An oval natural abalone pearl, 11 by 8mm, anchors this 14K yellow gold pendant, with a single 0.05-carat diamond beside it that measures 2.4mm across. Abalone pearls grow inside wild abalone in the cold Pacific waters off Mendocino, California, and they’re among the rarest of all natural pearls. The pearl’s surface shimmers with blues, greens and silvers that drift and change as you move, a play of color unique to this one gem. That’s what makes the pendant one of a kind, handcrafted by Richard Lewis in his California studio.
The diamond adds a clean point of brilliance while the yellow gold keeps the look warm and classic. Abalone is an organic gem and softer than most stones, so treat it thoughtfully.
