Effective July 10, 2026. These terms cover browsing richardlewisjewelry.com and buying from it. Checking the terms box at checkout means you agree to them, so here they are in plain English.
1. Who you are dealing with
Richard Lewis Jewelry is the sole proprietorship of Richard Lewis, a jeweler working in Santa Rosa, California. When these terms say “I” or “me,” that is who they mean. Contact details are at the end of this page.
2. The jewelry
Everything in the shop is handmade, and most pieces are one of a kind. Opals, pearls, and other natural stones vary. That variation is the point, but it means the piece in your hand will never match its photo pixel for pixel, and screens render color differently. Product photos show the actual piece. Listed weights and measurements are accurate to normal jewelers’ tolerances.
Because most pieces are unique, it is possible in rare cases for two orders for the same piece to cross. If that happens, the first completed checkout gets the piece and I refund the other order in full right away.
3. Custom work
I welcome commissions. Scope, price, timeline, and any deposit are agreed between us in writing before I start. Because a commissioned piece is made to your specification, it is not returnable except where it arrives with a defect in materials or workmanship. The Refund and Returns Policy covers this in detail.
4. Prices and payment
Prices are in US dollars. Payment is by card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, processed by WooPayments (Stripe). I never see or store your card number. Sales tax is added at checkout where the law requires it. If a listing carries an obvious pricing mistake, I may cancel the order before shipping and refund you in full, with an explanation and an apology.
5. Shipping
I ship within the United States and to the countries listed at checkout. Orders go out tracked and carefully packed. Delivery dates are estimates, not promises, though I pack and ship promptly. For international orders, customs duties, import taxes, and brokerage fees are your responsibility and are not included in the price or shipping cost. Please double-check your address at checkout. If a package comes back to me because the address was wrong, reshipping it may cost additional postage.
6. Returns
Ready-made pieces can be returned within 14 days of delivery under the conditions in the Refund and Returns Policy. Custom pieces are excluded, as described above. Where these terms and that policy overlap, the policy governs returns.
7. Ring sizing
Please measure carefully before ordering. The Ring Size Guide shows you how. Some designs can be resized and some cannot, so if you are unsure, ask me before you buy.
8. Wear and care
Fine jewelry needs a little care, and opals and pearls need more than most. The care guide explains how to keep a piece beautiful for decades. Damage from impacts, chemicals, resizing by someone else, or ordinary wear and tear is not a defect and is not covered.
9. My designs, photos, and words
The designs, photographs, and text on this site are mine. Sharing a photo with credit for personal, non-commercial purposes is welcome. Commercial use, including reproducing designs, needs my written permission first.
10. Warranties and liability
I stand behind my workmanship. If a piece arrives with a defect in materials or workmanship, contact me right away and I will make it right. Beyond that, and beyond the consumer protections California law gives you that cannot be waived, the site and its products are provided without further warranties, and my total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid for the piece involved. Nothing in these terms limits rights that the law says cannot be limited.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by California law, and any dispute belongs in the state or federal courts serving Sonoma County, California. That said, talk to me first. Almost everything can be fixed with a conversation.
12. Housekeeping
I may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted when you place an order is the one that applies to that order. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. How I handle your personal information is covered separately in the Privacy Policy.
13. Contact
