Description
Cut to a pear shape and measuring 13 by 12mm, this natural abalone pearl glows with the blues, greens and silvers that make abalone among the rarest of all natural pearls. The pearl comes from wild abalone in the cold Pacific waters off Mendocino, California, and its iridescence is entirely its own. Crowning the pendant is a 14K white gold bail set with three diamond accents totaling 0.04 carat, graded VS1 in clarity and G in color, their cool sparkle set against a body of warm 14K yellow gold.
Richard Lewis handcrafts this abalone pearl pendant in his Santa Rosa workshop, and it’s a true one-off, since no other pearl will ever repeat its swirl of color. Abalone pearls are organic and delicate, so look after yours: keep it clear of perfume, hairspray and household chemicals, never clean it in an ultrasonic machine, and store it separately from harder gemstones.
