Description
This 2.64-carat opal comes from Andamooka, one of South Australia’s opal fields, and it’s cut as a pear measuring 20 by 7 millimeters. The tapering shape draws the eye toward the point while the broad shoulder above carries the strongest play-of-color, a spectrum that shifts and rolls as the stone catches the light. Two diamonds totaling 0.07 carats, graded VS1 in G color, flank the opal with twin points of brightness, the whole thing set in 14K yellow gold. Richard Lewis builds each piece by hand, so no other is exactly like it.
This pendant hangs as a focal drop, its pear cut lending a classic line to the lively Andamooka color. Opal asks for gentle care: keep it from ultrasonic cleaners and hard knocks, and a soft, damp cloth is all it needs to stay vivid and clear.
