Opal Pendant 3.88ct in 14K Yellow Gold with Diamond

Description

This 3.88-carat Coober Pedy opal is shaped as a flowing freeform, 17 by 9.6mm, with the kind of broad, shifting play-of-color the South Australian fields are known for. Its irregular outline lets the color drift across the surface, flashing a full spectrum that never quite repeats. A single diamond accent adds a bright counterpoint, the whole thing set in warm 14K yellow gold. Like everything that leaves the studio, it was made by hand by Richard Lewis, and its pattern of fire belongs to it alone.

The pendant wears as a generous focal piece, its freeform shape giving the color a natural, unforced flow. Natural opal asks only for gentle care: keep it away from ultrasonic cleaners and hard knocks, and an occasional wipe with a soft, damp cloth will keep the stone glowing.
