Description
A 4.22-carat Andamooka opal forms the heart of this piece, cut as a clean oval measuring 18 by 14 millimeters and circled by a full bezel halo of ten diamonds. Andamooka is one of South Australia’s opal fields, and this stone has the broad, shifting play-of-color collectors look for, its spectrum changing with the light. The surrounding diamonds total 0.32 carats, graded VS1 in G color, ringing the opal with steady brilliance, all set in 14K yellow gold. Like every Richard Lewis creation, this one is made by hand and exists only once.
The diamond halo gives this pendant real presence, framing the oval stone at its center. Opal rewards a gentle hand: avoid ultrasonic cleaners and hard knocks, and simply wipe the stone with a soft, damp cloth to keep its color and fire vivid.
