The largest stone in the collection, this 6.05-carat Coober Pedy opal is a bold pear measuring 24 by 12 millimeters. From the South Australian fields, it offers a wide canvas of play-of-color, a shifting spectrum that rolls and changes as it catches the light. A 0.10-carat diamond, 3 millimeters across, adds a bright accent beside it, the pairing held in warm 14K yellow gold. Richard Lewis handcrafts this opal pendant, and it’s one of a kind, built around an exceptional stone.
Worn as a focal piece, its scale and fire are hard to overlook. As with all natural opals, a little care keeps a stone like this brilliant: avoid ultrasonic cleaners and hard knocks, and wipe it gently with a soft, damp cloth.
