Description
Warm 14K yellow gold cradles a 1.66-carat Ethiopian opal in this ring, hand-built in Richard Lewis’s Santa Rosa studio. The pear-shaped stone measures 9 by 6mm, and like the best Ethiopian opals it has a vivid, bright play-of-color that flickers and shifts as you turn your hand toward the light. The opal is set in solid 14K yellow gold, with its softly tapered point drawing the eye downward.
Because Richard cuts and sets each piece by hand, no two of his rings come out quite the same, and this one won’t be repeated. It comes in US ring sizes 4.75 to 8.75. Opal is a relatively soft stone, so it suits gentle everyday wear: keep it away from ultrasonic cleaners and sharp knocks, wipe it with a soft cloth, and avoid prolonged contact with water and oils, which Ethiopian opal can absorb.
