Description
The 1.68-carat round Australian opal in this ring measures 10mm across and comes from the Coober Pedy fields of South Australia, long known as a source of fine play-of-color opal. Across its broad surface the stone shifts through its own changing spectrum, catching fire one moment and cooling to softer hues the next as the light and your hand move together.
It’s set in sterling silver with 14-karat yellow gold accents, and those warm gold touches frame the stone and warm the cool silver around it. The ring comes in US ring sizes 5 to 9. Richard Lewis handcrafts each one in his Santa Rosa studio, so this is a one-of-a-kind piece, and no other ring will share its exact pattern of color. Opal is relatively soft, so give it gentle wear. Keep it away from hard knocks and ultrasonic cleaners, and simply wipe it with a soft, damp cloth.
